Terms of Service

Accessing or using Smith County Released Inmates means accepting these terms. Anyone who does not agree with them should not use the site or its linked search services.

This privately owned reference site is not affiliated with Smith County, a sheriff, jail, court, KDOC, or another government body. It and its advertising partners do not provide FCRA-covered credit, employment, insurance, or tenant-screening services. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

Nature of the Site

This is a private navigation and information resource. It does not store official jail or court records, confirm custody, release a person, file legal papers, or act for a government office. It points toward Smith County and Kansas record sources and may connect visitors with outside research tools.

Acceptable Use

Use must be lawful and must respect other people and the operation of the service. A visitor may not stalk, harass, threaten, impersonate, attempt unauthorized access, deploy bots or scrapers, introduce harmful code, overload the service, or interfere with another visitor. Site information may not be used for a decision barred by the FCRA limits below.

No FCRA Use

Smith County Released Inmates is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It offers no credit report, background check, or consumer report, and neither it nor its advertising partners provide a screening service. Users agree not to rely on site content or partner results for hiring or firing, tenant or housing screening, creditworthiness, insurance premiums, licensing, permits, government-program eligibility, or any other FCRA-regulated purpose.

Outside Links

Links can lead to sheriff and corrections pages, court and records portals, statutes, legal resources, notifications, or outside search services. Those destinations are independent. Their content, data handling, fees, availability, and terms are outside this site’s control, and a link is not an endorsement.

Service Provided As Is

The site and its content are supplied “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made about accuracy, completeness, currency, uninterrupted operation, freedom from errors or security flaws, or the scope of a partner’s search results. Public records and custody status change often. Nothing here is an official statement from the Smith County Sheriff or another government agency.

Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent Kansas law permits, the site and its owners, operators, contributors, and partners are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive loss arising from access, use, inability to use, reliance on content, or an outside service.

Indemnification

A user agrees to defend and hold the site, its owners, operators, contributors, and partners harmless from claims, losses, obligations, and reasonable legal fees caused by that user’s conduct, misuse of the service, or violation of these terms.

Intellectual Property

Original text, graphics, logos, arrangement, and code belong to Smith County Released Inmates or the applicable content partner. They may not be copied, republished, distributed, or modified without written permission, except as allowed by law. Government materials remain subject to their own rules.

Changes and Access

These terms may be revised at any time, and a revision becomes effective when posted. Access may also be suspended, limited, or revoked at any time and for any lawful reason, with or without notice.

Kansas Law Governs

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute must be filed in a court with proper jurisdiction in Kansas.

Severability

If a court finds one part of these terms invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. The affected part will be adjusted only as much as necessary to make it enforceable.

Questions about these conditions may be sent through the Contacts page. That channel cannot accept a Smith County records request or confirm a person’s release.
